RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for all activities related to the administration of MS SQL databases as a member of the MS SQL Production Support Team. Confers with and advises peers on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities, and methods. Consults with and advises users of the various databases. Projects long-range requirements for database administration and design in conjunction with other technicians in the information systems function. Prepares activity and progress reports regarding the database management section. May assign personnel to various projects and directs their activities. Monitors project schedules and resource requirements. Highly skilled. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and seven plus years of experience. Disciplines: Database Design and Analysis and Data Warehousing/Data Mining.
Job responsibilities will include:
Ensuring production DB server and database availability
Constant customer interaction for Project, Problems and Change Requests
Providing technical support for Test level DB activities
SQL Performance and trending analysis and tuning in all environments using Idera Diagnostic manager, Ignite and other monitoring tools
SQL Problem research and resolution
Strict adherence to Production Change Control requirements and CIP SQL policy requirements
Identifying areas of opportunity for automation and efficiency gains
Rotation for 24x7 oncall support and off-hours work for Change Control Requests as required by our customers
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree or higher strongly preferred in technology field or equivalent work experience
Self-motivated team player
3 years of experience working with relation Databases
Experience with one or more MS SQL Versions SQL2012, SQL2008, SQL2005 including common SQL concepts/features such as:
Database modelling; DB backup and restore processes and standards
DB recovery options; Configuration and consistency; TSQL; SSIS packages
Linked Servers/ODBC connection configuration; SQL Always On, SQL Replication
Good working knowledge of HPSM and the Change Control process
The following tools and technologies will be used in this position: MS SQL Management Studio, Idera Diagnostic Manager, Ignite, Idera SQL Safe, Avamar, DataDomain, Virtual Server, SAN Storage technology, Aveksa, Active Directory, ESP/BMRS, data masking, Disaster Recovery
Powershell knowledge is a plus
Excellent communication skills and must have strong problem solving skills.
Strong documentation skills and ability to proactively identify cost savings opportunities.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
